Froehling, Henry and Andrew Robertson. A HAND BOOK ON THE MINERALS AND MINERAL RESOURCES OF VIRGINIA.
Salem, Va.: Salem Printing and Publishing Co., 1904. 159 pp, plates, folding color map.

First edition. Original printed wrappers, some loss at top of spine. A very good copy of this scarce and important work.

ROBERTS: ANNOTATED GEOLOGICAL BIBLIOGRAPHY OF VIRGINIA, 798: "The writers prepared this handbook
by request of the Virginia Commission to the St. Louis Exposition of 1904. The natural divisions of Virginia are reviewed. The minerals found in Virginia number over one hundred. The formula, physical properties, occasional analyses, and all known localities are given.

Pages 97 to 159 are devoted to the mineral waters, and health resorts at Virginia springs. This compendium is an excellent one, and even with its popular tone, it is far advance of any effort made to get together all the useful minerals of Virginia.
This edition was exhausted in 1904 due to the great demand for it."
