First edition. Original brown cloth with title stamped in black on front board and spine. Binding is slightly cocked, light wear along front outer joint and to extremities. Remains a very good copy.

Gibbs enlisted and trained with the 9th Lancers in 1914, serving with them briefly in France before returning home to a commission in the R.F.A. at the beginning of 1915. He returned to France with 379th Battery R.F.A., ultimately to command it until gassed in the March Retreat, 1918.
