When Robert Metcalf Smith's The Shelley Legend was published in 1945, it was immediately hailed by the reviewers for highly respected periodicals as a very important book. This paper provides an analysis of some of its shortcomings. A rare Percy Bysshe Shelley item. WORLDCAT records only one known copy; held by Texas A&M University.
