When Robert Metcalf Smith's The Shelley Legend was published in 1945, it was immediately hailed by the reviewers for highly respected periodicals as a very important book. This paper provides an analysis of some of its shortcomings. A rare Percy Bysshe Shelley item. WORLDCAT records only one known copy; held by Texas A&M University.

This pamphlet is offered together with one of the author's original hand corrected typescripts. It consists of 32 unnumbered leaves with printing on the rectos only; stapled and paper clipped in the corner. Presentation reads: "For Richard Sanders from Newman I. White March 23, 1946".
