The Battle of Staunton River Bridge was an engagement on June 25, 1864 where Confederate irregulars repulsed Union forces during the Wilson-Kautz Raid. The battle took place in Halifax and Charlotte counties, Virginia.

"Old gentlemen of 70 winters took their turn in the trenches with lads of 15."

This is the original classic on the battle written by a respected local historian who talked with many of the veterans.
