Everett McKinley Dirksen. TYPED LETTER SIGNED ON "UNITED STATES SENATE" STATIONERY DATED SEPTEMBER 16, 1957 TO RALPH G. NEWMAN OF THE ABRAHAM LINCOLN BOOK SHOP IN CHICAGO TRANSMITTING THREE COPIES OF THE PUBLIC LAW, APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT SEPTEMBER 2, 1957 TO ESTABLISH A LINCOLN SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMISSION. Dirksen represented Illinois as a Republican in the House of Representatives (1933–1949) and the Senate (1951–1969). The three copies of the Public Law are still stapled to the corner of the letter. Very good condition.
