Rader, Jesse Lee. South of Forty : From the Mississippi to the Rio Grande : A Bibliography. Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1947. 336 pages. 26 cm.

First edition, as stated. A limited printing of 1,000 copies. Original cloth with bookplate of California bookseller, John Howell, on the front paste down. A nice association copy in near fine condition. This annotated bibliography records 3,793 items.

The compiler states: "For the purpose of this bibliography, the area undertaken is defined on the north by the fortieth parallel, on the west by the Rio Grande, on the south by the Gulf of Mexico, and on the east by the Mississippi. It is thus devoted to the southern portion of the Louisiana Purchase, including the great area of subsequent dispute, Texas."
