Illustrated with two maps and one photograph. A scarce and documented account of this military encounter during the Mexican-American War. Map 1 is entitled: CONTEMPORANEOUS MAP BY LIEUT. COL. W. H. EMORY. Map 2 is entitled: TOPOGRAPHICAL SHEETS SHOWING ROUTES OF KEARNEY AND PICO. The forces fought in what is now the San Pasqual Valley community of the city of San Diego, California. COWAN p.148-9: "All of the writings of Dr. Coy exhibit much research and accuracy."
