27. WE THE PEOPLE.
Paris: An Reeves and Edouard Weiss, 1987.

Art folio containing both original works as well as reproductions of the most famous documents in early American history. This unique work was created to honor the Bicentenary of the Constitution, the 17th of September, 1987. It was limited to 250 numbered and signed copies. There were also a few artist proof copies such as is offered here. The folio is quite simply a mammoth work. It measures approximately 30 inches x 20 inches and weighes over 25 pounds. The leaves have been printed on sheepskin-parchment [vellum] and full rag paper - Grand Velin de Rives. The typography was entirely hand-set and printed in Garmont, Cochin and Times type on an 18th century hand press and on a Frankenthal Press by Francois Da Ros. The numbered and signed, original triptych lithograph in color by Paul Jenkins was printed on stone by the Atelier Clot Bramsen and Georges. The leather binding, embossed in gold leaf was hand bound in the Atelier Bernard Duval. The binding is inlaid with cast bronze medallions and a solid bronze edging. The bronze medallions were cast by the Fonderie Meunier. Theses medallions are reproductions of two coins of the period: an "Eagle" from 1787 and "Washington" from 1792. Four of the engravings are hand colored. A complete listing of the contents and photographs are available as this is an item that must be seen to be fully appreciated.
